General Information — 24k Gold Fancy Guppy
The 24k Gold Guppy (Poecilia reticulata) is an elite, highly striking strain prized for its solid, ultra-bright yellow-gold metallic sheen. Unlike standard yellow guppies, a high-quality 24k line carries deep coloration across the entire head, body, and fins, creating an unmatched contrast in planted aquariums.
Appearance: Males feature a gleaming, uniform 24-karat gold color that blankets their entire body, accompanied by a wide, flowing tail fin. Females are robust, excellent broodstock, and carry a lighter golden-creamy body with striking yellow/gold finnage.
Tank Setup: Guppies do well in a well-planted aquarium of at least 10 gallons. They appreciate open swimming space and gentle filtration — strong currents can stress their large fins.
Water Conditions: Guppies prefer a pH of 7.0–7.5 and a temperature between 72°F–82°F (22°C–28°C). Consistent, clean water is key to keeping their metallic sheen vibrant.
Diet: Guppies are omnivores and thrive on a varied diet of high-quality flake or micro pellets supplemented with live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms to enhance color and vitality.
Compatibility: Peaceful and active, making them a joy to watch in community tanks with other small, non-aggressive fish. Avoid fin-nippers, as their flowing golden tails can make them a target.
